Smoking
People more than 40.000 die every year because of cigarette smoking. This number is four times as big as the number of people who pass away by traffic accident. Cigarette smoking gives very harmful effects to oneself, around people and society.
Smoking gives a various of bad effects on smoker's self. It causes serious diseases. If someone smoke a pack of cigarette a day, 20 times as likely to have outbreak of lung cancer as nonsmoker. In addition, Smoker's mouth blows bad smell and teeth is turned to yellow color. Ability of breath is reduced and power decreased of locomotion bring about catching cold easily. A smoker' average life is shorter about 7 years than a nonsmoker's it. In the teenagers' case, the problem is far serious. Because they become addicted easily, it is not easy to quit smoking and serious diseases are grow better.
Smoking hurt not only a smoker's health but also people' health around a smoker. If you are a smoker, family and coworker who you love will be passive smokers. Your children will catch cold easily and grow lately. In addition, their ability of studying will be inferior to same age children. A woman delivered of a child smoking is same to an embryo smoking. Her smoking raise an embryo' death ratio. A wife who live together with smoker has higher possibility on lung cancer than nonsmoker's wife.
Smoking affects on society. Our society is paying many money for reducing damage of cigarette. There are a lots of publicity activities for stopping smoking. Nevertheless many efforts of a government or a social activity organizations, many homes has being collapsed as the head of a family is die or seek for disease by smoking. The reports of specialists reveal that social loss by smoking reach 4,000,000 ~ 6,000,000 million won.
Cigarette smoking lead us to harmful effects to oneself, around people and society. Even if smoking give many damages like this, why do people smoke continually? There are a lot of reasons and excuses. Some young people begin to learn to smoking for them to look nice guy. The adult smoke argue that they smoke to reduce stress. However, once you begin to smoke, it is really not easy to quit smoking. Do you really want your son or daughter to smoke for reducing stress? If you aren't in that, you should think cigarette as an enemy and far away from that. In addition, our society should try to drive it away with more the strong compulsory policies.

The effect of learning a new language
A Language is a instrument that we can communication with other persons through. Having ability to use a new language effects our life. Most of people really want to learn a new langage, specially English, because they think that it helps them to live better living. There are many reasons people learn a new language.
People learn a new language to exist. Most companies damand ability of English to persons who want to become a member. In addition, English is important to improve or keep job. A large number of people emigrate to other country every year and learning new language is necessary to them. Students have to learn a couple of new language at least.
People learn a new language to develop themselves. Many people importantly consider learning English for self-development. When we see persons who speak English well, envy and want to be like them. People try to increase their worth by having ability of new language.
People learn to a new language to enjoy better a cultural life. If we can speak a new language, we can make foreigner friends easily and travel other countries freely. The sphere of our social activities can be enlarged by using a new language.
People want to learn to a new language because of various reasons such as to exist or to develop themselves and to enjoy better a cultural life. In the global era, a person who can only speak one's native language looks like a person behind the times. Learning a new language is fun on the one hand and difficult on the other. However, it isn't a choice but a essentiality to a modern.

Reading assignment
What would my typical day be like, if I live in Philippine?
After my retirement, it is very important for me to decide where to live and how to spend retired life, because it will be the second page of my life. I consider living in Philippine after retirement. If I live there, I can expect comfortable life with financial stability and free myself from complicated life in seoul.
In the morning, first of all I will get up early and pray for God. And I will take a walk breathing fresh air along the beach. After coming back home, I will take a breakfast with family reading a newspaper for korean residents. Breakfast will be a fresh fish food and desert is fruit such as mango, pineapple, banner, etc. I was told that there are plentiful fish and fruit in Philippine. After breakfast, I will talk about interesting things with family in the living room. And then, I will enjoy many hobbies, such as swimming, reading, cultivating garden, refting, fishing, diving, etc, which I couldn't do in Korea.
In the afternoon, I will attend to several kinds of social meeting or offer sacrifices for people who need the help. As a result, I will be familier with native people and can understand their culture. Activities for the poor will also give me meaning of the life and make me live as complete philippine.
In the evening, I will go shopping mall or take a rest watching TV. Before going to the bed, I will call relatives and friends who live in Korea on the computer-phone. Then, after praying for God, I will go to the bed.
It must be a new challenge to live in other nation. But It is worth to challenge even though many expected difficulties that wasn't mentioned up, because the possibility of the happy silver life is higher in Philippine than in Korea. I can enjoy spare time and abundant life that I can't have in Korea for economical reason.

The cycle of water
The earth has a limited amount of water. That water keeps going around and around. Water cycle is made up of a few main parts.
stage 1. Water turn to evaportion. Evaportion birth when the sun heat up water in rivers or lakes and sea. The water vapor or steam leaves the river, lake and sea and goes into the air.
stage 2. Water vapor changes to liquid again. Water vapor become cold in the air and changes into clouds by condensation.
stage 3. Water, such as snow, rain, drops from clouds to the ground. We call this situation a precipitation, which is a process in a chemical reaction which causes solid particles to become separated from a liquid. Precipitation is occured when so much water has been condensed that the air cannot hold on it anymore . The clouds get heavy and water falls back to the earth in the form of rain, hail, sleet or snow. It falling, soak the ground or become a part of the "ground water" that animals and plants can drink and become a part of the sea.
Water become evaporation, evaporation become cloud and cloud become water back. Even though the cycle is simple, it act as essential condition for lives of every animals and plants. This cycle of water is continued again anywhere as long as the earth exists. It is the unchangeable rule of nature which was made from creator of the earth.

Comparing of Korea and America
Even though Korea and America is an closer ally than other nations, there are many difference.
First, there are geographical big differences. The area of America' land is too big than it of Korea' land. Population of America is also too big. On the contrary, Korea' population density is much higher than America. Because America' climate is on condition of farming better than Korea' it. America can produce as enormous agricultural products as amount we can't be imagine.
Second, there are differences on the culture. Counting numbers, Koreans count number bending fingers one by one, but Americans count number unbending fingers. Mothod of motioning in calling a person also is different each other. When people call a person, Koreans put palm toward lower part, Americans put palm toward the sky.
Last. there are differences on the level of people life. Many of people has told that America is the most comfortable country. America must be the strongest country, but in the point of real people's living it is different with what people has thought. Although there are many plutocrats in America, there is also many starving people who don't have ability to make a money. According to a formal announcement of America goverment, rate of those in America is over 10%. Average earning of Americans is even higher than that of Koreans.
Korea and America have many differences on the part of geograpy, culture, life. In addition there are many different things that isn't written. It is not easy to find same things between Korea and America. Until now, because America is too advanced nation in comparing with Korea, it can be meaningless to try to compare with each other. However, what is clear is that knowing difference of each other must be help to understand America.
